WHERE TO STAY IN DIPOLOG | RESTRETO INN & CAFE

Pinoy Travel Blogger’s Home Sweet Home

I was in the middle of conversation with Mr. C of Lakadpilipinas.com about where to stay for a few moments in Dumaguete City and find ways to kill boredom when Aleksi, organizer of the Hudyaka Zanorte Festival, called me up to confirm where we should be staying in Dipolog City. And it was Restreto Inn & Cafe.

After a delicious moments along the street of San Jose in Dumaguete City. Lasagna and a loaf of Mocha Sans Rival never failed to bring smile to my face as we sailed away from the city of gentle people and sailed off to Dapitan.

We arrived at the port of Dapitan around 9 in the evening . I was not complaining however I felt so awfully tired , sleepy and I had those nasty blistery rashes on my face. I felt like I was gonna throw off and slipping off. I was going to slip back because of sleep deprivation. You know the feeling of wanting to crawl into your bed . I was seriously struggling to find our way to the hotel.

At last, home sweet home. It was a great inn and a very welcoming staff. At first you would not recognize there is a small cafe inside the shell station infront of Isuzu . I thought I was at a starbucks waiting for my hot chocolate espresso. This inn is pretty small boasting with  a  menu filled with local delicacies. To those who are craving for hearty snacks like burgers,  pastries and sandwiches, they have it all . At the cafe, you can see the modern facilities, nice and unique interiors with a very diversed concept.

Arriving a little late at night , Mr. C and I greeted by a dedicated staff along with smiling and charming travel bloggers. I did not know who they were until they talked to us . We went ahead to room number 4 which is just a few distance away from the cafe. We quickly left our backpacks and immediately came back to the cafe  for dinner. The cafe closes early at 10pm which is not normal to me compared to cafe in Manila where you could hang out until 3 in the morning. well, what can you expect? I then realized I was not in Manila.

The group decided to join us for dinner. We hired a tricycle cab and asked to take us to Makdo just near the widely appreciated landmark in Dipolog City , the boulevard of broken dreams . Makdo on the otherhand is a Dipolog version of Mcdo or Magdukoduko, a cebuano term which means to bend low and choose an order from a dimly lit barbecue grills . Again , seeing this place reminded me of Larsian in Cebu City.

It’s bed time and I knew we needed a rest. I am sure you guys know what a modern-day travelers expect for in a hotel. A clean and fresh bed linen, towels and a modern amenities like WIFI, a 32 inch LCD TV, hot and cold shower, a standby generator, an airconditioning unit and PABX telephone system. How cool is that? The hotel room is  squeaky clean and smelling fresh. They are only small but mind you , they have it all.

In the end , I really had a nice relaxing feel to this little hotel with a polite staff who can do enough to please their visitors.Kudos!

Awww, you seem to have had a great time and a great stay!

You wrote a great review for this hotel; it sounds like it is worth the trip just to stay there.  Small does not always mean limited, isn’t it!

I hear you about adjusting to a place unlike a city like Manila. It’s been a long time since I live in Manila, but I miss the 24 hours lifestyle feel there.

But there is a certain charm to not having what we are used to, right?!

Dipolog! It is a good place but it is overshadowed by Dapitan because of its connection with Jose Rizal. I want to visit Dipolog and Dapitan also. I might take a peek at this inn if I ever reach Dipolog.

Hi Ralph, I pay for all  my travels/trips, it was just so happened that the local government and other private institutions sponsored this trip.

I used my personal expenses to get to Dipolog. Airfares, ferries and bus trips everything else like food, accommodation , day tour are sponsored though.
