Do you agree that Filipinos are certified food lovers ? Whether its breakfast, lunch and dinner, Filipinos love to eat snacks at mid-morning including merienda or snack  in the afternoon. Through the years , the province of Dipolog has been rapidly and positively changing compared to other cities in Zamboanga Del Norte. I like the pace of changes in the area. The evidence of fast changing environment in Dipolog is compelling. I can say that it is becoming a modern city although traditional farming and fishing has been a major occupation of the whole province.

Probably one of the most appealing aspects of Dipolognon is their love for food. I personally want to pass on a big hug and thank you to the owner of Big Joe’s Cafe and its staff for inviting us for dinner. It was such a very warm welcome.

Their baby back ribs reminds me of Casa Verde in Cebu City.

Big Joe’s Cafe has lots of delicious treats to offer. From what we have experienced , they most serve western dishes made with fresh ingredients but they also serve Filipino and Chinese cuisines too. Big joe’s serve breakfast choices of Tocilog, tapsilog, longsilog, grilled sausage and they all served with rice. They also have a great selection of Chicken meals such as Crispy chicken, chicken teriyaki, sizzling fried chicken, chicken cordon blue and their special BJ fried chicken.

Big Joe’s looks like a typical family dining cafe but with a diverse concept. And I have to tell you it has the  cutest  and a very good ambiance. The main cafe where we dined at has a dining capacity of 30 people . On the other hand , its second floor can accommodate 15-20 people and that  is good for group and corporate gatherings.

The walls are covered with some interesting paintings and murals which I find it so cool that I had to photograph beautiful artworks  flooded on their  walls .

I’m a sucker for seafood so when they served one on the table I immediately grabbed the plate . I took just a half portion of a big piece of fish meat filled with a good amount of stuffing . I think the fish and the cheese just go so well together. And I personally believe it makes  a hearty meal. It was my favorite meal to be honest with you. Actually, all meals were thoroughly cooked into perfection and boy! it was very delicious.

Now let’s talk about value for money. Like everyone else who are used to small servings in Manila, You might be surprised to know that their servings are pretty amazing. You will certainly be leaving the cafe on a big appetite trust me. Have yourself a wonderful array of  gastronomic treats for only a little over Php150.

Now be acquainted with their desserts too. Halo halo, Mais con yelo, ice cream , fruit salad, smoothies and a frappe too. Mind you, they are made from 100% fresh fruits!

Over all , it was such a delicious experience. Big Joe’s location and cleanliness maintain the most comforting and they possess a genuine extravagance. Their fish meal stands out and will definitely let you alert your mind after eating. To be honest , there is nothing on their menu that is not worth ordering. I am not a chef but the style, texture and the taste is Magnifico!

We’re probably the snack capital in the world as aside from the three main meals we have morning, afternoon and midnight snacks to boot.  It would be nice to try out Big Joe’s Cafe as it seem to have a family and homey ambiance and treats are mouthwatering and reasonable prices.
