Every third sunday of January is the date when one of the prestigious festivals being celebrated in the Philippines. That is Sinulog Festival, celebrated in honor of the sto nino which is the patron saint. Sinulog Festival displays colorful parade and costumes , street dancing etc. I am one of the people who were so excited to see the grandest event. Sinulog Festivals are also held not just in cebu but also in other parts of the country ( in a smaller version) I believe sto nino festival is also celebrated in Tondo , butuan, aklan etc.
Kabankalan is over an hour’s drive south of Bacolod City by private car while public utility vehicles reach the place in about two hours. The city, which serves as the center of economic activities in southern Negros, is also the take-off point for various destinations down south, and links the province to Dumaguete City, capital of Negros Oriental via the Kabankalan-Mabinay Highway.
This is truly an important celebration in the Pinoy’s religious life. Showcasing unique talents and colorful traditions. For spectators like us, its a wonderful scene to watch out for… Sinulog Festival is a must see event in Bacolod aside from the Maskarra Festival …=)
