It has been a great week so far, I feel so stressful when Im at work and thats the reason I am looking forward to replenish my energy that’s lost during my work week. I am thinking it might make from a nice break from my other writing, and I want to put it down before I forget (which always starts with the thought “oh, that’s not so important, I won’t write about that”).
At any rate, the initial plan was to visit a resort in Antipolo but we decided to experience a different roadtrip so we headed to Tanay Rizal which is so new to me. It a nice jeepney ride of about an hour and a half . It was just a short day trip and called it a day to go to the FALLS!!!
Daranak falls is located in Brgy. Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal, which is a few minutes from Tanay market. According to source it is a government-owned park and part of the laguna watershed (thats interesting) If you are going by private vehicle, just follow the road going to Laguna from Antipolo. At the Daranak-Tanay junction you have to turn left and head straight uphill. You will then see a sign “To Daranak Falls” at the left side of the road. You have to turn left here. You wont miss it since there are several fruit stands along the road. Check you wheels as you will pass by rocky steep roads not recommended for lowered wheels. You will arrive at the parking area of Daranak at the end of this road. I found it so astonishing because the entrance fee is (about P20/person) isn’t it cool? You can stay only up until 5pm but if you want to stay overnight Batlag falls can accomodate you …. two thumbs up !!!

If you dont have a car , you can ride a jeep or FX to Tanay in cubao or in front of StarMall (Edsa cor shaw blvd). Get off at Tanay market and take a tricycle (or jeep if you are a large group). I would strongly suggest you rent a van or jeepney so you feel more comfortable and mind you there are no tricycle waiting near the falls. You will have to take a hike to the main road to get a ride back to the main road.
Batlag falls is situated near the top of the falls. You will have to pay a separate entrance fee though. I am going to feature that shortly as we go along . Its truly mystical, and whimsical !!
