AUGUST 20 DECLARED HOLIDAY IN OBSERVANCE OF EID’L FITR
It’s going to be an extra long weekend coming up for the Filipinos.
President Aquino has declared the 20th of August (Monday) a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr under Proclamation No. 455.
On the other hand, August 21st has been declared a special non working holiday at the start of the year for Ninoy Aquino Day. August 27th has been declared a regular holiday for the heroes day as well.
Ninoy Aquino Day is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of the 1983 assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.. He was the husband of Corazon Aquino, who was later became the Philippine President; they are treated as two of the heroes of democracy in the country.
National Heroes day commemorates all the nation’s heroes throughout history. It is a regular holiday marking the 1896 Cry of Pugad Lawin by the Katipunan,which was led by its Supremo Andrés Bonifacio, which began the Philippine Revolution.
