Recently, I have been receiving several emails about the appealing waterfalls in Tanay Rizal. Some questions like the following:

Where is Daranak Falls? How to get to Daranak Falls? Why Daranak Falls?

If you’re up for a cheap holiday destination, you may be able to find one super-cheap travels online. All you have to do is to make a good research. Daranak is in Tanay, Rizal. Travel time: 1.5 to 2 hours. Good for swimming, picnics, sightseeing and a lot more interesting activities.

Daranak Falls is located at Barangay Tandang Kutyo in the town of Tanay, Rizal which means “to flow”. Daranak falls is actually one of the favorite shooting locations of most local and foreign movies and advertising companies in the Philippines. Situated in a half hidden foot of the mountains of Tanay surrounded with rich vegetation complemented with streams cascading through tropical bushes, trees and plants which are truly refreshing.

Daranak Falls is just a moderate, short walk and/or hike which takes you to an enchanting waterfall and a swimming hole. It makes a gorgeous summer swimming family destination, a perfect way to stretch your arms and legs if you’re traveling a long rough road. Daranak Falls is also a great venue for photography hobbyists – both for the falls and lush forest scenic views and wildflowers around. If you’re feeling adventurous, this would make the start of a more challenging walk into one of the peaceful and dynamic features on earth.

Daranak stands about 14 meters high that has a huge and wide catch basin perfect for swimming. During summer months and weekends it gets pretty crowded. A short hike and walk (about 5-10 minutes) on a paved path, a smaller but more peaceful Batlag Falls will surely captivate you. Right now, I think Batlag Falls is privately owned by an individual. If you are lucky enough to get to Batlag Falls, you can simply roam around in the middle of the forest. Back in 2011, one can rent a picnic cottage or even camp overnight.

There’s one thing I need to reiterate about this blog. I just hope that visitors and tourists practice responsible tourism. Please avoid littering as plastic wrappers and bottles can ruin places.
