About some months back, coming from a week long trip from the beautiful province of Sorsogon in the Bicol region of the Philippines, I received an invitation from Tune Hotels, another Familiarization Tour outside of the Philippines to be added on my list in 2015.
I made a quick decision to say ‘Yes’ because this is another opportunity to meet bloggers from neighboring countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Since it was such a spur-of-the-moment move, I scrambled across the internet, scouting for the cheapest flight rates to Thailand as I intended to explore Krabi and Phuket as well.
This year, Tune Hotels Blogger Familiarization Trip happened in Johor Bahru Malaysia. There were 10 awesome people gathered at Tune Hotels, Danga Bay and explored some of the best places to visit in Johor Bahru in Malaysia. The highlight of the trip was ‘The Asia’s Got Talent’ finale. All of us were given the opportunity to see the live show at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. A chance to visit Kuso 3D Art Gallery and Legoland resort.
We arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at around ten in the morning on the 13th of May. After a few hours of waiting for our next flight, we were at the boarding gates just in time for our scheduled flight to Johor Bahru. There were 4 bloggers from Indonesia and 2 bloggers from Malaysia waited for us and then took the flight to Johor Bahru at around two in the afternoon.
We hailed a special 16-seater van with our own personal chauffeur and were dropped off at the Tune Hotel Danga Bay driveway in less than an hour. We knew as we got inside its simple yet inviting lobby that we’re gonna be in for a special treat.
The facade, lobby, interiors and the exteriors were really not too shabby. To be honest, I was actually quite impressed since I thought that they were just a budget hotel which caters mostly to backpackers that simply needed an affordable place to stay in for the entire night.
Tune Hotel – Danga Bay Johor is a perfect choice for travelers exploring Johor Bahru, whether exploring or just passing through. The hotel boasts a wide range of facilities to make your stay a great experience. Service-oriented staff will welcome and guide you at the Tune Hotel – Danga Bay Johor.

We really didn’t expect much in terms of luxury. It was enough that we have an en suite toilet and bath, a good working hot and cold shower, a decent and comfortable bed. I really can’t say much about my room except it’s decent and clean. It’s not really that big, but one would not feel cramped. Comfortable guestrooms ensure a good night’s sleep with some rooms featuring facilities such as hair dryer, fan, desk, shower, television LCD/plasma screen. The hotel offers various recreational opportunities. Convenience and comfort makes Tune Hotel – Danga Bay Johor a good choice for your stay in Johor Bahru.
Danga bay is a small yet an awesome area by the sea. One can find all sorts of recreational activities in this area; cycling, skateboarding, kite flying or even paintball. There are also restaurants, food centres, amusement parks, live bands, a shopping mall and bars!
One of the unforgettable things we did during our stay was to explore local flavors. And for the next 48 hours, I believe this was where we fattened up. Local restaurants offerings were all quite superb. From lunch, dinner, breakfast and everything else in between, they never failed to impress us with their dishes.
Selera Senibong Seafood is very well appointed, and like the rest, it features an outdoor dining area by the bay. As the weather was excellent and breezy that evening, we had to go for al fresco dining to enjoy the view and sea breeze.
We enjoyed our company and we were all happy with our choice of restaurant that evening.

AirAsia flew us to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. I’ve flown with AirAsia Philippines 6 times already this year, and because of their enticing all-in fare promotions, I have a couple of more tickets booked for the future.
Yes, airfares are absolutely cheap!
The booking engine of AirAsia Philippines is integrated with the entire AirAsia network. While it is a point-to-point carrier, its one-stop concept makes it convenient to get connecting flights to their combined destinations portfolio. AirAsia provides convenient connections, especially at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport LCC Terminal.
The entire AirAsia network encourages web check-in, and AirAsia Philippines is fully implementing this on all their routes. I find it more convenient and faster than queuing up at the airport, as a lot of Pinoys aren’t into this service yet.
The experience is fantastic, and I’m confident that this will continue as they expand into more routes across the country and other regions.
Will I fly with AirAsia again? I don’t see why not?!
