OLD DIPOLOG CATHEDRAL | TRADITIONAL AND MODERN
Our Dipolog Tour continued at noon as we paid a revisit at the Dipolog Cathedral. A second time to visit the Old church but still looks very young. Through the years the Old church building has become the spiritual symbol of christianity and Catholicism in the heart of Dipolog. During the construction in 1893, it has undergone several makeovers and renovations. I heard the altar has been altered and reconstructed .Noticeable marbles are used to make it modern but was rebuilt according to its standard form. It is definitely old but looking younger everyday. That’s the old church of Dipolog city as she continues to polish and mature in the hands of the Lord.
There was a bell tower on this side of the Original church and eventually removed due to dilapidation.
The original Church was built and constructed in 1896
This is the inside view of the Dipolog Cathedral. Its ceiling was originally built in 1896 with the country’s Philippine hardest wood “The Philippine Narra”. And the Altar was designed by the Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal during his exile in Dapitan.
The cathedral in Dipolog is just a short walking distance from the city hall of Dipolog. It feels amazing to visit churches or a cathedrals that are designed in an old style or classical style. With their old style I must say they still look fantastic even after a hundred years.
So if you are looking for an IDEAL and interesting day adventure packed with splendid sights, visit Dipolog Cathedral.
